Technology.

For almost a year I have been computerless. My macbook pro died out on me with the only possible solution costing me $800.00. However, as of today, I am fully connected. I have acquired a brand new macbook and ipad.

I am so thrilled with my purchases. Technology, as much as I would love to say I had no interest, I am utterly fascinated. The two are so much fun and make simple electronic chores bearable.

As frustrating as my old macbook pro could be, the stupid machine had a lot of memories packed into its metal frame. I went through my harddrive and looking through the countless photography efforts that were uploaded, dozens of songs recorded, and a million memories of car crashes, movie nights, dormitory days, shows played, and hours wasted I felt technological nostalgia.

Goodbye Arthur. You will be missed.

Again and Again.

Time after time I check into this thing and I really don't say much of anything. I update the vacuous hole of nobody that I narrate to or talk about plans that will inevitably have changed the next time I check in to this.

Which I will do to flatter myself now...

Everything I ever posted is completely different now.

I am no engaged to the love of my life and I couldn't be happier and all those guitars I posted on here (the ones I worked on) have all been sold, along with a good portion of my musical equipment.

At some point, in late winter, last year, I woke up. What caused this awakening was realizing I wanted to marry my best friend. So, I decided I would slowly sell off most of my musical equipment (I kept two electric gutiars and my acoustic) and buy her a ring by spring. I starting taking school seriously and started focusing more on my designs and my business prowess and got Baekgaard to hire me as an intern and a summer employee. I did a lot of designing and pitching those ideas to the company over my summer break and actually had some developed.

Well, about mid summer, I spoke with her father, bought the ring, and proposed. I am now set to be married June 4th, 2011.

I really don't know what I will be doing in the future. I have all these idealistic plans, but as you can see you kind of jump from one thing to another and priorities can change over night.

P.S.
Oh, by the way, I finished that desk I found by the dumpster forever ago. It looks great and I keep my wine decanters in it now.

It's Good To Be Back.

Well it has been quite awhile since I have set up shop on this old homestead I call a blog, but it is good to be back.

My life hasn't changed a whole lot. I still live in an attic, I still have three cats, I am still with the love of my life, I still play in the same band (myspace.com/wearepanchovilla if you didn't remember), and I still go to Ball State where for I spend about 40 hours of my week.

My life is still thrilling as you can see.

My plans have changed. I am changed from a rambler to a domesticated 40 year old in a 21 year old body, but to be honest it feels pretty okay. As long as your happy I suppose.... and I am.

I will still be posting various life lessons, stories, findings, and other miscellaneous things on here and hopefully I will be doing this much more steadily.

Delaware County Blues.

This morning I went to a place downtown Muncie, Indiana for a meeting about volunteering. I sat in the offices for about half an hour before I was told that the lady I was meeting with would be a bit late. I sat and listened to the discussions of people that were talking about how down and out they were and how these tiny things are what kept them going. It was extremely interesting, yet a tad uncomfortable. Before long, a tall african american man pacing outside caught my attention. I walked outside for a cigarette and offered the man one. He gladly excepted and shook my hand telling me in his gravelly voice that his name was Terrance. I explained why I was here and he just kept asking me questions about what I liked to do. I told him I play music and he said to my delight, "oh boy I hope you are playing the blues on those guitars of yours." I laughed and told him I did actually and it was weird to hear someone else sharing that interest. He looked at me with a half smile and his glossy tobacco stained teeth and said, "Son, us black people know the blues. All the kids might listen to that hip hop junk and say that those men are singing about the streets, but man those kids don't know a damn thing about no delaware county blues."

This was the best start to a day ever.

Obi.

Three months has felt like a year, but in a very good way.

Bigsby.

I recently took a bigsby bar off an old semi hollow body I have and put it on my electric guitar I refinished not too long ago. I think it looks pretty gnarly and thought I would share it on here. It adds so much sustain to this guitar. I am hoping to do a little recording with this in the near future.

Trash Desk.

The other day on my drive home I noticed a horrible piece of furniture laying next to a dumpster. Its laminate was corroding and stain was a wretched wine color. However, I have been in need of a small shelf/desk and this was perfect for that. I am working on refinishing it and making a lamp for the table top. Here are pictures of the desk before I worked on it at all.
